Happy New Year 2013

Title says it all. I'm excited about 2013, have some new resolutions, ditchin some old, but I will definitely still collecting toys, and strive to make this blog a better one than 2012.

Looking back at 2012, it was my first year as 3AA member, and the year where I got back into collecting designer toys. Followed and found great artist such as Chris Ryniak, Kathie Olivas, Ferg, Huck Gee, Luke Chueh, Scott Wilkowski, DrillOne, Topheroy, Mark Nagata, and many more. STGCC 2012 was great fun, and I'm looking forward to STGCC 2013. Many toy fair I wish I could attend, including SDCC and ThreeA's RVHK. Hope I can make it for 2013. My collection varies during 2012, mainly ditch most Japanese heroes stuff (SHF, SIC, etc), went to 12 inch (Hot Toys, military kitbash) only to finally ditch the two for 3A almost exclusively. I do still like some of Hot Toys figure, but I'm being extremely picky at it. The hype among 3A collectors has wear down as well, but from there, I've made some great friends all over Indonesia and in fact, the world, and despite all the negativity at the forums, reviews, events, I'm thankful that the friendship survived beyond the toys. Knew and made some new, AWESOME people in toy collecting worlds (BOTs! 3A Legions!)

Like I said before, the hype of collecting 3A is wearing down. The community used to be one of the reason why it's so fun collecting them, but with 3A getting known by more people, a lot came with different vision, and only look at the figure from their financial value. Many got disappointed at the slight quaity control issues and forgetting how cool 3A in responding their customer complaints. Despite all the negativity, I'm not gonna stop collecting ThreeA, that's for one. They still have the coolest figure, although I decided to concentrate on the world of Popbot and less on the others. After all, popbot was the one that lure me into collecting ThreeA. Too bad I'm not gonna make it for Thai Toy Expo, while they have the coolest exclusives in awhile (TK Waza and TQ Irimi), that's not the star of the show. What's more important is that Ash and Kim is gonna be there, and Thailand is probably the closest it will ever get in meeting Ash without going all the way to Hong Kong. Sadly I have another trip scheduled. Hopefully some friends will be able to help me get the Thai Toy Expo exclusive TK and TQ.

Kaiju soft vinyl toys is another addiction that got into me since I attended STGCC 2012 and met with the most kind, awesome kaiju father of them all, Mark Nagata from Maxtoyco. Been collecting kaiju since then and I don't think I'm slowing down. I have not like any other kaiju besides Maxtoyco and Jeff Lamm's Greasebat family (Mecha Greasebat for 2013!), but I know my kaiju collection is growing steadily.

And then there are other designer toys as well, including Ferg and his lil army Squadts, Chris Ryniak and his cute creatures, Kathie Olivas with her skelves, and many more.

As I see it, 2012 is a pretty good year for my toy collecting, and I'm looking forward to more releases on 2013!

Happy New Year 2013!!

Trouble Boys No 7 Drifter Tomenosuke Exclusive

Trouble Boys No 7 aka Drifter was a Tomenosuke exclusive release. It was limited 150 pieces and is truly a magnificent piece. One of my favorite Trouble Boys! With tattoo over his body, eye patch, dual UZI guns, he's ready to kick some serious ass. Being a fan of CQC though, I rather him do his bidding with old-yakuza-style badass knives.

I have yet to explore more side of this guy. These photos are barely do justice! More to come in the future.

Maxtoyco x Daniel Goffin Baked Potateorite

Here's another one of my favorite kaiju piece, a collaboration work between Mark Nagata of Maxtoyco and Daniel Goffin, called Baked Potateorite. Beside an exceptional figure, what makes this piece outstanding is the packaging that the figure came with. The packaging is so detailed and creative it almost make me want to keep the figure intact in its packaging. But hey, curiosity won and so I decided to open it up.

WARNING! BAKED POTATEORITE INVASION WITH A LOT OF IMAGES AHEAD. YOU COULD BE INFECTED. I REPEAT. YOU COULD BE INFECTED.

Well. Don't tell me I never warn you. More after the jump.

MaxToyCo Lady Darkness STGCC 2012 edition face variant

MaxToyCo Lady Darkness (face variant) with beautiful, big eyes (oey! the eyes are up there mister!! what are you looking at?) A small, petite, and definitely sexy figure by Mark Nagata, and although she has a small foot, she balance well and stand pretty sturdy. Love the sexy manga feel with this figure as well as the alternate masked variant.

This is an exclusive release for STGCC 2012, but there are some still available at MaxToyCo I think. Definitely a keeper.
